Furniture Store Employee Sues for Religious Discrimination Due to Her Wiccan Faith

August 13th, 2025

Christianity can be considered an outgrowth of Paganism, and many aspects of the Christian faith still show telltale signs of our pagan roots.
A woman in Florida recently filed a lawsuit against her former employer alleging religious discrimination based on her Wiccan faith.

A woman who identifies as Wiccan has sued her former employer, a furniture store in Marion County. Ocala News reports that the woman was allegedly subjected to various forms of abuse on the basis of her religion, including unwanted kissing, humiliation, and wrongful termination. This case highlights not only the growing frequency of religious discrimination cases in the United States, but also the rising popularity of less common religions like Wicca.

Former Worker Claims She Faced Harassment & Abuse Due to Her Wiccan Faith

The woman in question filed her lawsuit in July of 2025. This plaintiff claims that while working as a front desk clerk at a furniture store, she was subjected to all kinds of religious discrimination. After her co-workers discovered that she was Wiccan, they allegedly ridiculed and insulted her on numerous occasions. She also claims that she was intimidated by her co-workers and the president of the furniture company.

These individuals reportedly objected to her faith based on their own Christian beliefs. The plaintiff claims that her abusers informed her that her Wiccan faith was Satanic, something clearly outlined in the Bible. She seems to have had a habit of bringing tarot cards to work, something that may have caused a conflict. She also reportedly placed certain Wiccan items on her desk, and her co-workers allegedly moved these items around or mocked them.

During her many years of employment, her co-workers reportedly tried to convert her to Christianity. She says that they told her that their faith was the only pathway to heaven, and that she should convert rather than burn in hell for eternity. In their attempts to convert her, the co-workers allegedly provided the plaintiff with Christian teachings in the form of audio and text.

When she refused to convert, the plaintiff says that she was subjected to unfair disciplinary action. She claims that this disciplinary action was purely the result of her Wiccan faith. When she complained, the company allegedly failed to conduct an honest investigation into the issue.

Lawsuit Alleges Sexual Harassment As Well

Separately, the woman claims she was sexually harassed by the president of the company. During one incident, the president allegedly kissed the plaintiff on the lips without her permission and against her wishes. She also claims she was subjected to unwanted sexual touching. Throughout these experiences, the woman ostensibly refused to quit before finally being terminated in 2024. She is now seeking compensation for lost wages and various non-economic damages.

It is unclear whether this plaintiff can establish a preponderance of evidence showing that these incidents actually occurred. If she can meet this burden of proof, the court has a constitutional obligation to uphold her religious rights – even if they seem opposed to the “traditional” Christian faith held by her co-workers.

It will be interesting to see how this case unfolds. In related news, Russia has recently decided to completely ban Satanism. This stance is completely different from that of the United States, which is constitutionally bound to uphold all religious rights.
